Monster Paradise Chapter 52: The last Three Hours…

As the clock struck midnight, a sea of monsters had gathered out the canyon entrance to Snowy Mountain County.
The monster horde now contained over a million monsters and stretched out in an endless field of black.

It had gotten to the point where there were monsters who started climbing over each to rush into the entrance.
A lot of monsters were crushed to death in such a manner, under the foot of an ally.
The monsters who did the climbing didn’t fare much better either as they too soon became a stepping stone for the monsters behind them, forming an ever growing tower of monsters.

As a result of these monster towers, Yi Zheng and Yi Yeyu had to join in the fighting as well.
If they did not do so, it would only be a matter of time before the monsters climbed over the defensive walls.

Yi Zheng’s thin sword shape-shifted into a three metre long sword as he prepared to attack.
He leaped off his boulder and dove into the monster horde below him, killing a bunch of them as he landed.

He began his attack in earnest; with every swing of his giant sword, ten monsters lost their lives.

On the other boulder, Yi Yeyu was continuously feeding Life Crystal Lattices into her cannon while she blasted the monsters below her.
While her accuracy wasn’t great, it did not matter.
The denseness of the monster horde meant that no matter where she hit, the ground would be littered with a bunch of corpses.

Below the giant boulders, stood the 20 Golden Hunters.
After two days of continuous killing, they were exhausted but still standing.
As they massacred the monsters around them, they consumed Life Crystal Lattices to replenish their Life Energy.

Unfortunately, no matter how many monsters they killed, the stream of monsters never stopped.
It was no wonder that so many monsters breached the first layer, their numbers were endless.
The Golden Hunters weren’t able to deal with these monsters as they were busy enough trying to deal with the incoming monsters.
They had no choice but to leave them to the Silver Hunters at the second layer.

The second layer consisted of a thousand or so Silver Hunters.
They formed the largest group but also faced the largest amount of pressure.
The number of monsters that breached the first layer wasn’t small, causing them to be just as busy as the Golden Hunters in front of them.

They were closely packed in order to minimize the amount of leakages.
Over 90% of the monsters who breached the first layer were killed here.
They knew that the third layer had too little Copper Hunters and weren’t able to handle too many monsters.
As such, unless they had no choice, they would try to stop all the monsters.

The third where Lin Huang and his team were posted at, could be considered the most relaxed of the three.
The majority of the pressure had been borne by the Golden and Silver Hunters in front of them; the amount that leaked through was merely 10% of total amount.

The frequency at which they encountered an attack was low as well, allowing them to recuperate.
By now, they had recovered 50-60% of their stamina.

However, as time passed, the increase in the number of monsters in the canyon began to take its toll on the backlines.
Lin Huang’s team began to face an attack every 5-6 minutes.

However, this did not affect Shirou.
He was a veritable killing machine; his killing speed had never changed since the beginning.

His tireless killing had netted him the same number of kills as Lin Huang and the teenagers combined.
His ever-changing Blood Wings painted a beautiful but deadly scene across the battlefield.
With every change, a monster’s head was severed; a monster’s heart was pierced.
His killing rate put Lin Huang’s to shame.

Even so, Lin Huang’s performance wasn’t that bad either.
With his black iron blade in hand, he became a super soldier.
Under the effect of the Grand Desolation Blade Scripture, nothing could withstand his blade swings.

As he grew during the battle, the number of slashes need to kill a monster fell from five to three and finally to one.
As long as it wasn’t a Three-Star BlackIron monster, it didn’t live past the first swing.

With his growing familiarity with the Traceless Snow Steps, he became like a phantom on the battlefield.

This led to Zhou Le and the other teenagers mistaking him for a scion of a noble family.
This wouldn’t make sense otherwise.
No commoner would be able to afford so many high level techniques and possess such a terrifying strength.
Do not forget, they were Three-Star BlackIrons but their performance paled in comparison to Lin Huang.

Lin Huang had long since lost count of how many monsters he slew and how many resulting fragments and rewards he gained.
In this situation, he barely had time to breathe or drink.
His attention was devoted to the ongoing battle.

Kuro was well aware of the intensity of this battle.
He didn’t send out system messages with every kill as it would distract Lin Huang.

On the battlefield, every second and every minute was torturous.

Everyone was praying for the sun to quickly rise and for day to come.

This was because once they made it past sunrise, the human transcendent would arrive.
Once he killed the monsters’ transcendent, this battle would finally be over.

Lin Huang mercilessly pushed his body to the limits; unlike the others, he wasn’t even a BlackIron.
The difference in their body’s natural limit could not be compensated so easily by mere combat strength.

Even Three-Star BlackIrons like Zhou Le were too exhausted to even speak, let alone Lin Huang.

This made his stellar performance that much more eye-catching.

Not only did it garner the respect of Zhou Le, but also of the surrounding Copper Hunters.
They knew that Lin Huang had long passed his limits and was only holding on through sheer willpower.
Whatever untapped potential he had left was being unearthed by his ferocity.

Lin Huang was naturally aware of his own condition.
He did not dare to rest and continued swing his blade around non-stop.
He knew that if he stopped, he would mostly likely collapse from sheer exhaustion.

This was why he kept chanting to himself, “I mustn’t stop! I mustn’t stop! A few more hours and it will be sunrise!”

The battle raged as a cacophony of howls and shouts echoed from both sides.

3 am…

Everyone was drained by now but they pushed on with the knowledge that they only needed to hold on for 3 more hours.

Suddenly, an earth-shaking roar echoed in the distant sky.

This beastial roar came from behind the snowy mountains and swept past the mountains, the hunters, the canyons and even through the grasslands.

Their hearts jumped into their throats as they heard this roar.
Even Lin Huang’s heart was beating furiously at this moment.
It felt like there was something terrifying staring at them and this left them extremely disconcerted.

However, this roar had the opposite effect on the monsters.
Their morale was instantly raised.
As they howled in excitement, they renewed their attack on the giant boulders with increased ferocity.
They had no regard for their bodies as they slammed against the boulders and even willingly became a part of the monster tower.
Their goal, to climb over the rock barrier.

Seeing this, Yi Zheng’s and Yi Yeyu’s brows furrowed.
They did not expect such a turn of events in the last three hours of the battle.

Before he could begin to digest this piece of bad news, he heard a sound from the snowy mountains.
Turning his head, he spotted a pitch black cloud which covered half the horizon approaching them rapidly.
As he focused his gaze, he gasped in surprise.

“Shit, it’s a Yin Crow flock…”
