Chapter 20

“Yes, Lieutenant!”

As if waking up from magic, the stiffened people began to move quickly – with a face worried that Alexa might run out of breath after crying like that.

“He will be fine, alright? Miss Alexa, Young Master Ysu will be fine.” The Head Maid knelt in front of Alexa and comforted her.

She was very sad to watch as her white face turned red while she was hugging the puppy and crying.
But in the meantime, her big eyes full of tears and nose red from crying were just too cute.

The Head Maid wiped Alexa’s tears with a handkerchief.
Visten walked behind the Head Maid. 

“Huh…?”

Terrun, who had fallen asleep early, also woke up.
Rubbing his eyes, he ran towards her with a surprised face and put his face near Alexa.

“Alexa, are you crying?”

“Hiccup!”

Terrun, who was silently looking at Alexa who was speechless and weeping, quickly turned his head.
Then he shouted at Visten, who glanced at Alexa, “Dad did it, right!! Were you kicking Alexa out again? Dad made Alexa cry!”

Then he ran to the embarrassed Visten and punched him in the back. 

No, this is unfair to me. 

Visten hugged his little son with a bewildered expression on his face.
Perhaps because he inherited the blood of his direct lineage, his human development is slow and his language system is weaker than that of other children.
And yet, he was working very hard on giving Visten dozens of reasons why Alexa shouldn’t be kicked out over the past week. 

Even though he did that, he seemed to be quite upset to see Alexa crying.

Terrun, who he had always thought was precocious, burst into tears.
He seemed to be annoyed that things didn’t go his way. I can’t believe he was crying like this at the age of 15.  

Visten patted Terrun on the back with a puzzled face. 

“No, Dad didn’t do anything! Terrun, Dad really didn’t do anything.”

“Deeen, why is Alexa cryiiiing!”

“Its really not your dad! You can ask Alexa, right?’

However, Alexa, who had to give an answer, was unable to speak properly because she was sobbing in the arms of the Head Maid. Goodness gracious, Baron Visten let out a deep sigh as he hugged Terrun. 

“Aiya! It’s not really dad… aiya!”

“Hic, Ysu….”

Meanwhile, 

“Arf?”

With his head covered in chocolate, Ysildus tilted his head not understanding the situation – as if he had no idea about the small ball he had fired.

The Grand Duke’s carriage quickly arrived in front of the Karrolf Clinic.
Alexa and Terrun ran down the carriage.
Terrun’s anger subsided when he found out that Visten wasn’t really at fault after hearing Alexa’s belated explanation inside the carriage.
Visten followed after them with an indescribable expression on his face. 

“Haa~.”

For some reason, her heavy shoulders seemed to dim his eyes. 

“Alexa! I’ll go first!”

Fortunately, the lights were still on and it seemed like there were still doctors left inside the hospital.
Alexa nodded with a swollen face. 

“Kiiing…”

Alexa moved as she hugged Ysu, who blinked his eyes at her as if he was doing aegyo.
Her heart was in a hurry, but her tears kept rolling down her face that she couldn’t see clearly. I obviously learned how to deal with such situations, but this is not Korea. 

None of the medicines nor syringes that Alexa used were available here. I studied so hard, but I was very disappointed in myself that there was nothing I could do for you. 

Alexa wiped her tears away with the back of her hand.
Terrun, who ran first, fortunately found a remaining doctor and waved at Alexa. 

“Here!”

Alexa diligently moved her legs.
Thankfully, who was left was Karrolf, who also knew Alexa.
He visited the Grand Duke’s Castle this afternoon, but he never expected that they would meet so soon.
Their class was supposed to start tomorrow.

“Did something happen?” Karrolf bent his knees on his own and asked Alexa.

Alexa nodded as she continued to cry.
She held out the puppy she was holding in her arms. 

“Y-Ysu ate chocolate.
He ate the whole bag by himself….”

“Oh, I see.” Karrolf took the puppy.

It was heavy and his stomach was full, evident that he ate quite a lot.
The dog bared his fangs at him as soon as he was taken away from Alexa and threatened him, but Karrolf didn’t pay him any heed. 

Alexa followed closely behind Karrolf, who got up.

“You can stop crying.
Little Lord Ysildus will be alright.
If I clean his stomach once, he will vomit it all.”

Ysildus as nothing more than a baby puppy in Karrolf’s large hands.
This was the reason why Karrolf didn’t budge no matter how much Ysildus threatened him. 

After suppressing the struggling Ysildus, Karrolf put out five, refined black pills and put in Ysildus’ mouth.
The pills rolled inside after he opened his mouth and shoved the pills in. 

“Uurrrrr!”

Karrolf smiled broadly.
He threatened Karrolf after he take all the pills – as if he would bite him right away if he released him. 

Alexa snuck up next to Karrolf and brushed the dog’s head. 

“Stay still! What if you get sick….”

Alexa’s first emotion when she realized that the puppy ate chocolate, was guilt.
If only she had paid the puppy more attention, and if she had been better at guarding the chocolate bag, then the puppy wouldn’t have eaten it…. 

Alexa rubbed her wrinkled nose.

“I’m sorry, Ysu… Noona’s really, really sorry.”

“Kiing?”

Ysildus tilted his head as if he knew nothing and licked Alexa’s finger.

Karrolf released Ysildus.
After the effect of the medicine takes place, Ysildus will vomit all that he had eaten.
Karrolf stared at the sobbing Alexa with curious eyes. She was a more mature and kind girl than I expected. 

Usually, people were the ones who hurt their dogs when this happened, and it was rare for children to apologize to the dogs.
But Alexa was apologizing to the puppy as if it was only natural. She had a very kind personality.

Karrolf opened his mouth to the last pupil he had liked, “Can you show me your hand, Alexa?” 

“Yes, Teacher.”

Karrolf placed a black pill on Alexa’s small palm.

“As you know, people with even the slightest drop of wolf blood lived in the Territory of Thersion.
There are definitely other people that live in other places, but only wolves can settle in the Territory of Thersion.” 

Except for Alexa.

“For that reason, doctors in Thersion have to study not only the human body but also the ecology of wolves.
Maybe that’s why the doctors of Thersion are a little better – since they are exposed to more fields.” 

Karrolf put another pill on Alexa’s palm.
It was a larger, more greenish pill than the previous one.

“Especially, children often follow wolves’ habits rather than humans, so we should prescribe selected medicine.
This black one are for those with strong wolf habits, while this green one is for those with stronger human behavior.
Of course, this as also given to children who ate things they shouldn’t eat for stomach cleaning.” 

Alexa stopped crying and glanced at the two pills in her palm with twinkling eyes.
When Alexa showed interest, the dog came over then sniffed and tapped the pill with its front paw.

“What makes the two pills different?”

“…they are different sizes.
Is it because the amount need to be taken is different?”

“You are very smart.”

It seems that even his eccentric personality melts when he looks at Alexa.
Karrolf profusely nodded his head. 

“And I think the ingredients used on each of them were different.
I also think that they smelled different….” 

It’s so cute to see Alexa go crazy.
Even the way she tilted her head while she was in trouble, she even seemed affectionate because she was smaller than the children here.

Behind Alexa, Baron Visten and his son’s eyes flashed as if they were thinking that the patient who came here wasn’t Ysildus but Alexa.

I will give your first homework, Alexa.
Find out which drug was different from the two pills.
I will postpone our class for two days.”

Alexa clenched her fists. So this is homework! I really liked the homework. It’s not like a routine class, but it gave Alexa an opportunity to study what she has to go through in life! It was much more interesting than the routine studies she had done in Korea. 

Alexa tucked the two pills into her pocket.

“Yes! I will work hard, Teacher!”
